Terms of Use

Welcome to CalmExam. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CalmExam mobile application ("App"), developed and operated by KatDev ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using CalmExam, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using CalmExam, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. If you are under the age of 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the App.

2. Description of Service

CalmExam is an exam anxiety management and exam performance coaching application. The App provides:

• Guided breathing exercises (4-7-8, box breathing, diaphragm breathing)
• Cognitive reframing techniques
• A daily wellness protocol
• AI-powered personalized coaching conversations
• Mood tracking and trend analysis
• Panic-moment support tools
• Wellness techniques (EMDR eye movement, EFT tapping, progressive muscle relaxation)
• Post-exam debrief and analysis
• Practice exam tracking and pattern analysis
• Future self letter writing
• Motivational content and user-entered motivation notes

CalmExam is designed to help users manage everyday exam-related stress and build healthier study habits.

2a. AI-Powered Features

CalmExam uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude) to provide personalized coaching, daily protocols, panic reframing, and post-exam analysis. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content is created by a machine learning model and may not always be accurate or appropriate.
• AI coaching is not a substitute for professional therapy or counseling.
• To provide personalized responses, certain profile data (exam type, symptoms, mood, conversation history) is transmitted to the AI provider. No personally identifiable information (name, email) is transmitted.
• AI features require an internet connection. When offline, the app uses pre-written content instead.
• Coach session summaries may be stored locally and used as context for future AI coaching conversations to provide continuity.

3. Not Medical Advice

If you are experiencing severe anxiety, panic attacks that interfere with daily life, depression, or thoughts of self-harm, please seek help from a qualified healthcare professional immediately. The content provided in CalmExam is for informational and self-help purposes only. Use of the App does not create a therapist-patient or doctor-patient relationship.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

CalmExam offers both free and premium features. Premium access is available through an auto-renewing subscription.

• Payment processing is handled entirely by the Apple App Store and RevenueCat. We do not directly collect or store your payment information.
• Subscription plans: CalmExam offers monthly and annual auto-renewing subscriptions, as well as a one-time lifetime purchase option.
• Free trial: Some subscription plans include a free trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will begin and you will be charged.
• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings in the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Lifetime purchase: The lifetime purchase option grants permanent access to premium features with a single payment. It does not auto-renew.
• Refunds: Refund requests are managed by Apple in accordance with their App Store policies.

5. Free and Premium Features

CalmExam provides the following access tiers:

• Free access: The panic support module (breathing exercises, grounding techniques, cognitive reframing, and motivational support) is available to all users at no cost.
• Free trial: The daily wellness protocol is available free for 7 days after you start using it.
• Premium access: A paid subscription or lifetime purchase unlocks unlimited AI coaching, coach memory (session continuity), full daily protocol, post-exam debrief analysis, practice exam tracking, premium wellness techniques, multiple exam profiles, and all current and future premium features.

6. User Content

CalmExam allows you to enter personal content such as motivation notes, mood entries, coaching messages, debrief notes, and future self letters. You retain full ownership of any content you create.

• Your personal content is stored locally on your device.
• When you use AI-powered features (coaching, debrief analysis), your messages and relevant profile data are transmitted to Anthropic's AI service to generate personalized responses. This data is not retained by Anthropic beyond request processing.
• We do not access, collect, or transmit your data to our own servers.
• You are responsible for backing up your data. Uninstalling the App may result in the loss of locally stored content.

7. Intellectual Property

All content within CalmExam — including but not limited to reframe texts, protocol content, breathing exercise designs, illustrations, app interface design, and written materials — is the intellectual property of KatDev and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the App or its content without prior written permission from KatDev.

8. Limitation of Liability

CalmExam is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

• We do not guarantee any specific exam results, academic outcomes, or reduction in anxiety.
• We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
• Your use of CalmExam is at your own risk. The techniques and content provided are general self-help tools and may not be effective for everyone.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the App
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to CalmExam at any time, without prior notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms or are misusing the App. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or applicable law. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Turkey.
